Industrial Cleaning Technician – Omaha, Nebraska

LOCATION: Omaha, NE

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:  An Industrial Cleaning Technician is responsible for cleaning already existing duct work, intake and return air vents, air handling units and other ventilation associated equipment.  In addition, other duties include dry ice blasting, combustible dust removal, cooling tower cleaning, overhead cleaning, tank clean outs and pressure washing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to travel over-nights 25-50% or more of the time.
  • Activities require handling and grasping with the hands when performing cleaning or restoration of various duct systems by utilizing hand tools, power tools, air tools, nuts, bolts, electronic controls, and other small parts.
  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. and seldom lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, gas or fumes and chemicals.
  • Work in confined spaces which are tight times.
  • Work in inclement weather elements.
  • Ability to wear hearing and eye protection as required.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to climb over heavy equipment or maneuver through ceiling crawl spaces.
  • Ability to pass a medical examination to wear respirator and pass respirator fit test.
  • Be clean shaven (no more than 24 hrs. of growth) when required for jobs that require respirator usage.

DUTIES

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhere to all safety procedures.
  • Maintain positive customer relations through professional interactions with customers.
  • Follow standard operating and industry procedures.
  • Clean equipment.
  • Attend formal training as requested.
  • Load and unload equipment.
  • Prepare new equipment for use as requested.
  • Perform maintenance check on rental equipment before and after use for damage, tires, fuel levels, battery levels, safety decals and safety compliance.
  • Safely perform minor repairs of equipment and tools, including checking oil, grease, and fluids.
  • Communicate with Supervisor and/or Project Manager for equipment maintenance requirements and repair.
  • Assist all other levels of technicians as needed with project completion tasks.
  • Scope, familiarize, and demonstrate operations of systems to customers as required.
  • Recognize and communicate the need for shop tools/equipment.
  • Identify and communicate the need for supplies/parts for inventory.
  • Work is normally a 40-hour work week. Some Overtime may be available and required.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL

  • 2 years’ experience or equivalent school training preferred in Preventative Maintenance or Mechanical systems.
  • Must attend training for and achieve ASCS certification and maintain certification through continuing education.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools.
  • Effective verbal and written skills.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated blueprint reading skills.
  • Time-management skills.
  • Capable of taking initiative.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.

  • Valid driver’s license, able to pass a physical and a drug test.
