Conveyor Cleaning: Reasons to clean, methods of cleaning, and other considerations
Conveyor Cleaning is an important part of the maintenance process for every conveyor system. There are several ways to clean a conveyor system and even the systems with built-in cleaners need cleaned from time to time. Our team offers manual cleaning as well as dry ice blasting cleaning services for the conveyor belt and all of the components of the conveying system.
Why Should You Clean Your Conveyor System?
Well for starters, for many industries, it’s required to be done on a specific schedule, but if you don’t manufacture food products, it can be done less frequently. We find that with a lot of non-food manufacturing facilities, it really depends on how dirty the conveyor gets over time. For some facilities, the build-up happens fast and needs to be removed daily or weekly. For others, the build-up needs to be removed every month or few months to ensure the proper operation of the system. When it comes time to clean these systems we have two main methods, manual cleaning and dry ice blasting.
Conveyor Cleaning Method 1: Manual Cleaning
When we are cleaning a conveyor manually we will use cloths, brushes, scrubbers and water along with the appropriate chemicals. Manual cleaning is the most through way to clean a system because we can get to all of the places that attachment cleaners can’t reach and we can also clean the attachment system itself. An attachment system can’t disassemble your entire conveying system, we can, and we will. We will clean your conveying system as thoroughly as possibleand will complete at PH test after the cleaning is complete so that we can ensure that are sisn’t any residue left over by cleaner that can contaminate food or ruin the surface of a product that is on the line.
Conveyor Cleaning Method 2: Dry Ice Blasting
Dry Ice blasting is another way to clean conveyor systems. Dry Ice Blasting is a non-abrasive, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly method of cleaning food conveyor belts. It can remove dirt, debris, and contaminants while leaving the conveyor belt undamaged and free of residue and waste. This is the best cleaning method for sensitive systems.
Additional Cleaning Considerations:
In addition to cleaning the conveyor system itself, we can also clean the entire facility from top to bottom. This is especially important for food production lines that have allergy concerns (a growing concern within the industry). We can completely clean and sanitize the facility prior to a production run that needs to be completely free of certain ingredients and sanitize the rest of the facility to remove dangerous bacteria that might be lurking in hard-to-reach places or neglected portions of the facility.
